Violence against women occurs in different ways, from verbal aggression to physical violence, causing suffering to the victim. In this scenario, this article aims to analyze the contributions of the Women's Reference and Assistance Center – CRAM, based on the understanding of the actions developed at the Institution to confront and combat violence against women. To this end, a bibliographical review was carried out, based on authors who address the topic in question. As a result, it was found that violence against women comes from a context of inequality and how capitalist society determines the role of women, which was constructed through a process of inequality and submission.
